At KFC we think it’s a beautiful thing when people can eat the food they’ve grown or picked;
mostly because it tastes better, but also because it has more good stuff in it, and less bad. It’s nice to know what goes into your food, and it’s even nicer to know you’re able to feed yourself with better food
than you can get from the shop.
We grow all around the Kingstanding Well-Being Centre, come join our wonderful friendly team of volunteers!
The main plots feed the volunteers and the café, and provide a year-round opportunity for people to come and learn how to grow their own fruit and vegetables.
Everyone is welcome to the plot for as little or as long as you like, and we like to think we can get anyone growing, regardless of their physical ability or level of experience.
We even give away seedlings when we have a few spare,
so it’s easy to have a crack at home.
We really want to get people growing. We run gardening clubs for parents and children in local schools and have a team of volunteers who manage our allotment plots.
We have a big seed give-away each spring to help people
“Get Growing @ Home”
We also have a monthly “Foraging Friday,” where we go out somewhere local and see what food is hanging about the neighbourhood. It’s an opportunity for local people to go out and explore local spaces, and to get in touch with the nature that’s around us. The humble nettle, the glorious elderflower, and the explosive Himalayan balsam are among the fun food adventures waiting just round the corner.
Did you notice the new award on the homepage?
Well we are so proud we just had to show it off again here!
Don't think for a minute that this means we will be resting on our laurels though.
This success spurs us on more to make our allotments better still.
We are hatching big plans for 2017 so watch this space, or better still, come down to the allotments and get involved!
The allotment is on:
Edmonton Avenue, just off Finchley road, B44 0XE.
We are there:
9am – 1pm
most Mondays and Fridays during the growing season.
